GigRentals materials are product templates for an application process. They are not legal, tax, or insurance advice. A California attorney and a licensed broker must review any live program. Quotes are estimates. Applications are not offers. Inspection, underwriting, match, and countersignature are required before any vehicle changes hands.

Install

No app store. Add us to your home screen.

GigRentals is a website that installs like an app — Apple and Google both call this a Progressive Web App. You stay in Safari or Chrome. You get an icon next to Uber. We never ask you to sideload a file.

Install from this browser

On iPhone use Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, the menu item appears after a visit.

iPhone (Safari)

  1. Open gigrentals.com in Safari — not Chrome on iOS.
  2. Tap the Share sheet (the square with the arrow).
  3. Scroll to Add to Home Screen.
  4. Name it GigRentals. Tap Add. The icon sits on your Home Screen like any app.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open gigrentals.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap the menu (three dots).
  3. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen.
  4. Confirm. Chrome wraps the site in a standalone window — no browser chrome.

What the browser is allowed to tell us

Nothing below runs until you tap Allow on that phone. We never get contacts, photos, or the microphone. iOS is stricter than Android; background location is only while the PWA is open unless you later ship a native shell.

  • Location

Neighborhood pings while a seat is live, and SOS. City-level for you as the owner — not a live street pin.

POST /api/v1/geo/pings every few seconds while driving. Stored as H3 cells.

  • Camera

Four-corner walkaround plus odometer before and after a window.

Signed upload, then an inspection row. No photos, no unlock.

  • Notifications

Window start, late return, unlock, SOS. Optional in Settings.

Web Push when you allow it; otherwise we stay on email.

  • Storage

Keep the app and last schedule on the phone if the network drops.

Cache the shell. Account state still lives on our side once you have a login.

Then we look at the actual car

Before the first renter, a person walks the vehicle. Photos live in your browser upload, then on our side. No listing until this passes and a sealed tracker is in the engine bay.
