GigRentals LLC
A California marketplace, because the national ones won’t do this job here.
Turo’s own terms block using a rented car for gig work in California. Hertz and Lyft Express Drive will rent you a car — by the week, from a counter, if you already passed Uber or Lyft. Getaround is hourly unlock, mostly not a monthly host program anymore. HyreCar used to be the P2P answer, then it wasn’t: one master commercial policy sat under every car on the platform, so a bad claim season anywhere in that book raised the cost of every car in it — and eventually the whole thing stopped being insurable.
GigRentals sits in that hole with a different structure, not just a different app: no master policy for us to blow up. Every booking binds its own per-trip PVSP policy in the driver’s name — a host with a Camry in Oakland, a driver who already has an Uber account, a 19-point inspection, a sealed tracker, and four leased windows on the calendar. We do not take title. We do not employ drivers. We do not dispatch rides. We are not the named insured on any of it — the risk never pools onto one book the way HyreCar’s did.
Applications are reviewed. Placement is not guaranteed. Quotes are caps, not offers. If that sounds conservative, it is on purpose.
